LIFTING UP OUR NEIGHBORS SINCE 1957

At United Way of St. Johns and Putnam Counties, our mission is simple: to ensure every neighbor has the opportunity to thrive.

Since 1957, we have invested in people and communities by advancing education, promoting financial security, building healthier lives, and strengthening resilience in the face of challenges. Together with our partners, we mobilize resources, advocate for better policies, and deliver programs that create lasting change—whether it’s helping a child succeed in school, ensuring families achieve stability, expanding access to care, or supporting recovery after disaster.

Guided by our four key pillars—Educational Opportunity, Financial Security, Healthy Community, and Community Resiliency—we fight for the building blocks of a stronger tomorrow and invite you to join us in shaping a brighter future for St. Johns and Putnam Counties.

OUR PILLARS

Every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential. Through local partnerships, we provide tutoring, mentorship, and enrichment programs that open doors to brighter futures. Through the work we do, every year, hundreds of young people gain access to critical educational resources, helping them succeed in school and beyond.

Families thrive when their basic needs are met and long-term stability is within reach. Since 2020, more than 4,000 residents have received free tax preparation, resulting in over $5 million in refunds that go directly back into the pockets of local families. By coupling financial literacy and stability programs with emergency assistance, we help neighbors move from crisis to security.

Good health is the foundation of a strong community. We work to expand access to affordable care, support mental health initiatives, and promote healthy living. Since 2020 we have distributed 161 tons of food to those in most need, ensuring that individuals and families could focus less on costs and more on well-being.

When disaster strikes or hardship hits, neighbors should never face it alone. From hurricanes to housing crises, we mobilize quickly with local partners to provide shelter, resources, and long-term recovery support. Together, we help families not only weather the storm, but also rebuild stronger, more resilient lives.
